Welcoming a New Head

Children joyfully running across the field
Deanna Bocchetti Headshot

It is with great enthusiasm that Green Acres School's Head of School search committee and Board of Trustees announce Deanna Bocchetti as our next Head of School, beginning on July 1, 2023.

Deanna is the current Head of School at The Co-op School in Brooklyn, NY, an independent Pre-K–8 with a mission and approach very similar to that of Green Acres. Prior to her headship, Deanna served in multiple leadership roles, including Assistant Head of School, Head of Lower School, and Director of Enrollment, during six years at the Tatnall School, a highly regarded independent Pre-K–12 in Wilmington, DE.

Deanna has deep experience in curriculum design and classroom teaching. In addition to her curriculum work at Tatnall, she served as Director of Curriculum at Mandell School, an independent K–8 in Manhattan. Before that, she spent sixteen years in the classroom at Collegiate School in Manhattan, teaching various grades at the Lower School level. Her tenure at The Co-op School and related experiences, including with the National Association of Independent School's Diversity Leadership Institute, demonstrate her deep commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, justice, and belonging principles.

She holds a certificate in school management and leadership from Harvard School of Education and Harvard Business School, a master of education from City College of New York, and a bachelor of science from Syracuse University.

I want children to be thrilled by exploring the world, to encounter challenging problems and be excited to find solutions, and to emerge from their educational experiences as critical thinkers who will aspire to make the world a better place.
