It is Super Hero Day, and a variety of super heroes have been spotted all over campus. Capes, masks, and shields of all colors, shapes, and sizes adorn both campers and counselors in celebration of the first “Fun Friday” at Green Acres Camp.
Fun Fridays are just one of the creative and exciting themes that occur at our camp throughout the summer. Creativity, choices, friendship, and fun are the key concepts that are incorporated into activities on a daily basis. Campers can be seen playing cooperative games, learning new dances, studying architecture, and creating original works of art, just to name a few!
This week, learn about your child’s experiences at camp. Listen for songs that your child might be singing and ask him/her to teach you the songs. Compliment your child on his/her use of creative materials and designs in art or woodworking projects, and display the creations in your home. Ask about new friends your child has made and plan a future get together.
Robin McClure, author of Ten Tips to Strengthen Families suggests that making your children a priority in your life will strengthen your relationship:
“Your children need to know that you believe they are a priority in your life. Children can observe excessive stress and notice when they feel you are not paying them attention. Sometimes, part of being a parent is not worrying about the small stuff and enjoying your children. They grow up so fast, and every day is special. Take advantage of your precious time together while you have it!”
Green Acres brings families together. It’s the place to be!
