Green Acres Eighth Grader Honored as Letters About Literature Finalist
Gisellah S. selected as a finalist from almost 2,000 entrants.

Green Acres School Eighth Grade student Gisellah S. has been honored as a Maryland state finalist for the 2015 Letters About Literature contest. She was one of the finalists selected from almost 2,000 contest entrants! To enter the contest, students wrote letters to an author, living or deceased, who made an important impact on the student or the world. Gisellah wrote to William Ernest Henley about the poem “Invictus.” 

Gisellah will be recognized in April at the State Awards Ceremony in Baltimore, MD.

About the Contest
According to Maryland Humanities Council's website, Letters About Literature (LAL) is a national writing contest for students in grades 4 to 12 sponsored by the Center for the Book in the Library of Congress.
