Summary:

Green Acres School is seeking a full-time early childhood teacher to join our dynamic staff community for the 2026–2027 school year. Our early childhood teachers provide an academic program that promotes the social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development of each child.

The successful candidate will be an experienced teacher who understands the needs of young children. The candidate will join a developmentally based, experiential program that is cognitively challenging and responsive to individual children’s interests and needs. The ability to work as a collaborative team member is an essential skill for this position. Teachers work together to provide a comprehensive program of individual, small group, and full-class activities. Outdoor learning and free play are integral components of the program. Additionally, specialists collaborate with core teachers to integrate PE, science, creative movement, music, and art into the overall learning experience.

Responsibilities:
Teaching

Develop a positive relationship with each child
Develop, plan, and implement developmentally appropriate program activities aligned with progressive practices
Work with children in large and small groups or one-on-one during homecorner, choice time, and outdoor play
Assess children’s development for progress reporting and monitoring
Communicate with families about curriculum and individual children via weekly newsletters, as well as progress reports, family meetings, and conferences
Participate in team meetings, staff meetings, and committees

Leadership

Qualifications:

A bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or other relevant subject is required; an advanced degree is preferred
A background in curricular and pedagogical innovation and classroom teaching experience relevant to this position
Curiosity and a growth mindset
Ability to provide differentiated instruction
Ability to communicate effectively with parents and staff, both verbally and in written communications
Experience working in a collaborative team preferred
Good health and ability to lift up to 25 lbs; teachers need to be able to lift children on/off swings, help with climbing on outdoor equipment, etc.

Lower School Teacher

Salary: $60,000–$84,000 based on experience

Summary:

Green Acres School’s Lower School teachers provide an academic program that promotes the social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development of each child. The teacher will demonstrate the ability to guide a student-centered classroom environment with positive learning experiences, differentiated curriculum to meet the needs of students, and foster intellectual curiosity and critical-thinking skills. The teacher possesses the know-how to assess, develop, and extend children’s skills through a rich, engaging, developmentally appropriate hands-on program. The teacher also possesses an effective repertoire of classroom management skills. Our teachers work with students from a variety of backgrounds who possess a range of abilities and learning styles. Lower School teachers collaborate with others; therefore, this individual must be able to work effectively with colleagues and parents.

Summary:

Green Acres School is seeking a full-time Middle School math and engineering teacher to join our dynamic staff community for the 2026–2027 school year.

The successful candidate will have an approach to the discipline that encourages a high degree of math fluency and problem solving by balancing an established and successful scope and sequence with interesting and engaging projects. The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of how math creates models of our world, and they will incorporate that understanding by teaching math not just as abstract problems and theory, but also as it explains and illustrates the world around us. The successful candidate will have the capacity to meet the needs of a range of learners.

Using a structured, comprehensive math program, we aim to build strong foundational skills and conceptual understanding. Beginning in 7th and 8th grades, we offer algebra I and, as appropriate, geometry for advanced students.

Our Middle School math teacher also serves as an advisor, supporting students’ social-emotional growth and acting as liaisons between families and the school. In addition to teaching math, this teacher will teach an engineering elective, guiding students through hands-on experiences that explore the work of engineering, the engineering design process, and how to creatively solve complex problems.

Core Middle School teachers accompany students as a chaperone on overnight trips of 3–5 days once or twice a year.

Summary:

Green Acres School is seeking a dedicated full-time Spanish teacher to teach students in 4th–8th grades. Teaching in the target language is required, along with the ability to integrate both language skills and cultural literacy. Teachers conduct classes in Spanish as much as possible, using authentic games, songs, conversations, and other activities and projects to help children internalize language components. The Spanish teacher will participate in the review and development of the school-wide Spanish curriculum to ensure coherency of scope and sequence from pre-k to 8th grade.

Responsibilities:

Substitute Teacher

Green Acres School is seeking substitute teachers during the school day and after school.

Subject areas for school-day substituting include language arts, humanities, math, science, Spanish, social studies, PE, technology, and the arts (music, studio art, ceramics, photography, drama, and creative movement).

After school, substitutes are needed in the school's PM Care program, which operates from 3–6 PM. Assignments range from 1–8 hours in a day and may cover more than one academic area or grade level. A full school day is 8 AM–3 PM. Paid training is provided.

Requirements:

Teaching experience.
Bachelor's degree. (A bachelor's degree may not be required to substitute in the PM Care program, depending upon the candidate's experience.)
