Senior Camp (Units E-H)

There are two Senior Camp sessions: June 21 - July 9, 2010 and July 12 - July 29, 2010. Campers may attend one or both sessions.

For older campers, entering fourth to seventh grades, Senior Camp at Green Acres is a unique summer adventure. Our senior campers benefit from a tremendous range of activity choices. They appreciate the opportunity to design their own schedules based on their particular interests. After visiting the subject choices and learning about what is planned, campers then choose up to five activities to specialize in for each three-week session. There are novice- to advance-level classes available and some activities may require a double period.

At least ten different activities are offered for each of the two Afternoon Workshop periods. These activities change daily and are chosen by the camper at the end of the previous day. Ultimate Fribee, cooking and baking projects, basketball, world games, creek walks, and friendship bracelets are some of the fun afternoon workshop choices. Swimming and sports are a workshop choice every day.

A marvelous selection of day trips and overnights will further stimulate senior campers for an enriching summer experience. Campers in Units G and H take a weekly field trip. Laser tag, tubing, and bowling are some of the day trip adventures campers enjoyed last summer.

In Unit E, the overnight is one night at Echo Hill Outdoor School and takes place during session two. This is open to any Unit E camper in session two.

Units F,G & H will spend two nights at FLOC Outdoor Education Center. This overnight occurs during session two and is only available to campers who are attending both sessions. Because this is a two-night overnight, it is important that we have enough time to get to know the campers prior to taking the trip. Therefore, those campers who are attending session two only will not be able to go on the overnight and instead, will participate in their regularly scheduled activities at Camp.

The overnight are optional. Any camper not going on an overnight will participate in their regularly scheduled activities at Camp.

Campers bring a lunch daily and we provide milk and water to drink. The lunches are not refrigerated. We also offer the Health-e-Lunch Kids program for those of you who want to avoid the hassle of packing a lunch everyday for your camper. They offer hot and cold nutritious menu choices and the convenience of ordering from your own computer. Their prices and quality are a pretty good deal. For more information, go to the Health-e-Lunch Kids website and check it out! Orders may be placed beginning in June.
