Language Arts

Communicating with Pleasure and Precision

The ability to express oneself in writing is an essential life skill and crucial for academic achievement; we ask our students to write across the curriculum. They keep journals, create their own stories, “publish” books, and write poetry. They compose expository essays, conduct interviews, and write research papers. They express reflective thoughts through journal entries and self-evaluations. Students find words they need to know based on individual requirements, and they learn spelling through their reading and writing. Each year they learn to comprehend language more deeply and to communicate more precisely, and their enjoyment of language grows. The skills that students learn and the pleasure that they gain through the language arts program enhance their experiences in every subject.
