Technology Assistant/Computer Teacher (beginning August, 2010)

This dual position invites a talented person with strong IT skills to be both an Informational Technology Assistant who supports the Technology Director, and a teacher of technology to students in grades 2 through 4.

The technological support aspect of the job includes maintaining and troubleshooting technology services for staff, and conducting group training sessions. Knowledge of both Macintosh and PC environments is necessary to support the school’s dual platform.

Computer classes for students include instruction on the basics of Word, PowerPoint, Moodle, Google Docs, and related and technology skills including keyboarding, through a hands-on, project approach to learning.

Requirements for the position include:

  • Bachelor’s degree; Master’s degree preferred
  • Proficiency in database programming, Microsoft Office, OSX, Windows XP, Active Directory, Workgroup Manager, basic networking, and imaging on both platforms.
  • Teaching experience or training in education or child development.

Kindergarten Teacher

The Kindergarten program at Green Acres brings together best practices and current research related to the teaching of 5 and 6 year old students. Green Acres is seeking an experienced, nurturing teacher who understands serving the needs of children within this age group through a developmentally based, experiential program that is cognitively challenging and responsive to individual children’s interests and needs. The ability to work as a collaborative team member is an essential skill. The kindergarten teachers work together as a team to support a program that provides individual, small group, and whole class activities.

Requirements for the position include:

  • Master’s degree with a focus on early childhood education
  • Teaching experience with kindergarten or first grade students
  • Preferred: experience working in a collaborative team
