Transportation
Bus Transportation
Green Acres School strives to maintain a bus service for families who live within a reasonable distance from school. The school and its contractors operate all buses with maximum care for the safety and comfort of the children.
Bus Routing
The contracted bus companies, in consultation with the Head and Transportation Director, write the routes. We take many factors into account before finalizing a particular route: size of the bus, traffic patterns and regulations, safety of bus stops, the route’s accessibility to families, etc. To keep bus rides as short and efficient as possible, we will try to use group stops on all routes. Group stops will be given priority. In some cases, parents will have to drive or have a child use public transportation to a central location. We cannot promise a specific stop location. Routes change each year. No stop is guaranteed to remain the same as in the previous year.

Carpool Policy
In our effort to reduce traffic in the school’s neighborhood and to comply with zoning requirements imposed by the Montgomery County Board of Appeals, the Board has implemented the following policy:
In the afternoon, all children need to be in a carpool or ride a bus. Single child pickups are not allowed in the afternoon. Regular bus service, Extended Day, and carpools are the only options. The only exception to this rule is for those families whose children, by state law, must travel in car seats. All other families must choose one of the other options.
