Development at Green Acres School
Twenty-six years ago the Development Office was established at Green Acres School. The primary goal throughout all of these years has been to foster a sense of community among parents, students, faculty, grandparents, and our alumni. A steady stream of communications, invitations, celebrations, and passages brings the community together. Because of this sense of participation and a belief in the humanistic goals of the school the Green Acres community has responded enthusiastically to efforts to raise operating and capital funds for the school.
To insure long-term financial viability, Green Acres School established an endowment in 1981 which has grown to $4.4 million. Planned giving and major gifts now include a Millennium Bequest Club, trusts, gifts of life insurance, and appreciated securities, and opportunities to establish Named Funds.
The Development Office’s greatest pleasure is hosting class reunions for alums in high school and college and cluster reunions around the United States. In recent years we have hosted alumni gatherings in New York, Boston, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle and Port Townsend. Green Acres alums personify the mission of the school and the success of the progressive philosophy of education.
