75th Anniversary Celebration Weekend
75th Anniversary Celebration Weekend
The November 7 Celebration Weekend had a wonderful turnout! The day started with an Alumni Lunch and Reunion with over 100 guests. Alumni enjoyed seeing old friends and teachers, viewing a video montage of student musical performances, and touring the updated campus. The alumni were also treated to a celebratory video from alumus Peter Messitte, U.S. District Court Judge.
The celebration continued with Family Fun Activities organized by students and parents. The campus buzzed with excitement and energy all afternoon, and included a group singing of “Happy Birthday Green Acres” followed by 500 mini cupcakes.
Following the Family Fun Activities, the highly anticipated Dan Zanes concert did not disappoint! Dan Zanes, accompanied by Larry Polansky, put on a wonderful performance in honor of Green Acres’ 75th anniversary. Students joined him on stage for several songs. By the end of the concert everyone was up dancing! Clips from the concert are available here.
The day concluded with a very special evening of dinner and memories. The evening program included remarks by Neal Brown, Head of School, Louis Silvano, Head of School 2000-2008, a letter from Arnie Cohen, Head of School 1993-2000, Lisa Nevans Locke, Green Acres parent and author of Green Acres’ History, Dale Allen, Teacher from 1970-1975, a slide show compiled by Victor Stekoll, teacher since 1984, and a musical montage compiled by Mara Waldhorn ‘98. It was an exceptionally special evening.
