What do we mean by an Intentional Model?Social Development
Children ages 4 to 6 are engaged in learning about themselves in relation to the world beyond their family and home. Children learn about themselves and others through every social interaction. The Early Childhood Unit provides many opportunities throughout the school day for children to engage actively with peers and adults as they explore the classroom environment and outside spaces. Children are invited to make choices thus directing their own learning within a carefully constructed framework. Our young learners feel successful when they engage in activities they have defined for themselves. Through social connection to classmates the children develop a more complex understanding of social relationships.
Children develop a sense of trust and well-being as they learn to share space, materials, friends, and teachers. Abundant practice and teacher guidance prepare Pre-K students to make decisions, settle disagreements, and manage some of their own important needs with increasing skill and independence.
