Governance

Green Acres School is an independent, nonprofit corporation. Parents and legal guardians of Green Acres students, trustees, and employees of Green Acres School are voting members of the Green Acres School Corporation, making us a unique community where every member is invested in the mission of the School. The Head of School and Board of Trustees are responsible for overall stewardship of the School. The Head of School is the chief educational and administrative officer of Green Acres School.

The Board of Trustees comprises approximately 25 volunteer trustees: the Head of School, three staff members elected by their peers, up to 16 parent members of the Corporation, one co-chair of the Green Acres School Parents’ Association, and up to six community trustees. Four trustees and the Head of School serve as the Board’s executive officers. Members of the Green Acres School Corporation are invited to attend Board meetings and to serve on many Board committees.

The Board focuses on areas critical to the success of Green Acres:

  • The Board selects, evaluates, and supports the Head, to whom it delegates authority to manage the School.
  • The Board develops broad institutional policies that guide the Head in running the School.
  • The Board is accountable for the financial well-being of the School.
  • The Board develops and approves the School’s Strategic Plan.
