Green Acres School Parents' Association (GASPA)

A strong and involved parent body is a hallmark of the Green Acres community. Two adult parents and/or guardians for every Green Acres student are automatically members of the Green Acres School Parents’ Association (GASPA), which sponsors many activities that are organized and implemented by committees of parent and guardian volunteers. Parents and guardians find getting involved a wonderful way to meet others and to become more connected to the School. Their commitment to Green Acres helps students feel that they are part of a warm, caring, and inclusive community.

GASPA is led by two co-chairs elected by other parents and guardians. All parents and guardians are welcome at GASPA meetings to discuss upcoming events, issues, and ideas.

GASPA’s activities include parent and guardian networking and educational programs, new family welcomes and outreach, monthly staff appreciation events, a book fair, and a variety of “family fun” events. One GASPA co-chair is a nonvoting member of the School’s Board of Trustees, and one GASPA representative participates on the Board’s Nominating Committee. GASPA also appoints a representative to the Parents’ Council of Washington, an organization of Washington, DC–area independent schools.
