A Bright and Welcoming Place for Reading and Learning

The beautiful Green Acres School library, designed by James W. Ritter in 2000, is bright and spacious, with flexible spaces. It can accommodate multiple groups and activities, and it supports a variety of learning styles.

The library is home to more than 22,000 books, periodicals, CDs, and DVDs and 20 iMac computers. We have a rapidly growing collection of Spanish and bilingual materials. We subscribe to a variety of electronic resources for use by students and teachers. Our online catalog, Alexandria Researcher, can be accessed from School and from home.

Our quality collection, which we update frequently,

  • supports School curricula and programs
  • covers a broad range of reading levels, interests, and issues
  • celebrates diversity
  • promotes awareness of discrimination and injustice.

Our goals as Green Acres librarians are to

  • inspire joyful, lifelong reading and learning
  • teach good decision-making and research skills and strategies
  • foster independence in accessing and using information.
